Meet the Moeslein family. They recently did an at-home family photo session with me, and absolutely CRUSHED IT with their outfit choices. I love their use of neutrals, texture, tone-on-tone outfits, and how they coordinated without being matchy matchy. Winter family sessions often take place at home because the February landscape isn’t so inviting where I am here in Richmond, VA. But that’s okay because I love those cozy, sweater weather vibes for family sessions. So, if you’re looking for inspiration for winter family photo outfits, you’re in the right place.

Winter Family Photo Outfits: Toddler Girls
The Moesleins have 3 littles, and they did a great job coordinating outfits that were comfy and cozy for the kids, while still being fashion forward.
I love their daughter’s scalloped, ribbed leggings. And her cozy sweater had the sweetest little flower details. 🥹 It was the perfect choice to keep her outfit fun and girly, while still neutral enough for timeless photos.

Winter Family Photo Outfits: Preschool Boys
The Moeslein’s oldest is a boy, and, like most three-year-old boys, he has tons of enthusiasm and energy. I
love that mama Moeslein put him in classic, relaxed jeans with a lived-in wash. She chose a solid, neutral colored long sleeve tee, and it creates a timeless look that is very kid friendly.
Plus, it’s a darker palette to help hide any last minute stains 🙃

In these shots of the whole family together, I love that their outfits are cold-weather appropriate, while not looking OVERLY wintery.
When you’re planning to frame and display photos around the house, it’s nice for them to make sense in any season, not just the season they were captured in.

Winter Family Photo Outfits: Babies
Let’s talk about baby Moeslein and his CUUUUTE ribbed matching set. Matching sets are all the rage in loungewear for grown ups, but I didn’t know the trend had extended to babies too.
I’m all about it 🤩

Also, those side button details on his top are the absolute cutest.

Winter Family Photo Outfits: Dads
Dad wore a neutral toned henley shirt, which is was perfect choice. Henleys are cozy and warm for winter weather, but also classic and timeless.
I love that he chose a darker wash jean, which didn’t compete or clash with the wash of his son’s denim.
Paring his dark jeans with a light top creates a nice moment of contrast, while the rest of the family was more monochromatic.

Winter Family Photo Outfits: Moms
Last but not least, let’s discuss Mama Moeslein 🤩 I loved her cozy sweater because of the creamy tone, as well as the cozy texture. It was oversized enough to look snuggly, while still being flattering for her figure.
Pairing the sweater with some flowy crinkle gauze pants in a grey color created a tone-on-tone look that I love.
The colors are perfectly winter, while still giving off rich warm vibes.
