Offering family photos in studio is a brand new offering for Sunday Vibes in 2025 🙌🏻. I wanted to a little post to talk about why I’ve started offering them in the first place and to provide some answers to commonly asked questions about studio sessions!

Also, this is a great time to share photos from my recent session with the Harris Family 🤩 They are such beautiful people, and I have a soft spot in my heart for families with all boys 🙂 Also, mama Harris always crushes it with the wardrobe choices. I love her neutral palette that feels modern and cool, especially with a minimalistic white backdrop.
Why offer studio sessions?
Studio sessions can never take the place of an at-home session, but they can be a beautiful addition to at-home sessions.
In my mind, these offerings are apples and oranges! Both are awesome in totally different ways. Let me explain.
If home sessions are about documenting the space and pace of real life, then studio sessions are about showcasing connection in a way that is unmatched.

The minimalist backdrop puts all the emphasis on the relationships. There’s nothing to distract or take away from that sense of togetherness, the joy of play, and the magic of connection. Studio sessions truly take the raw materials of love and family and create art honest art with a timeless look.
I love the creative challenge of using a blank slate to create full of life and love – photos that feel so you, all in the purest, most minimal setting.
What makes a studio session different from your other sessions?
- Quick & easy – Studio sessions are my quickest and easiest option for family photos! Session are 45-60 minutes, which is plenty of time to get a good variety of expressions and angles, but not so long that your whole day revolves around having photos taken.
- No weather worries – Because I shoot studio sessions indoors next to some beautiful huge windows, we can shoot even on a rainy or cold day. In Richmond’s unpredictable spring weather, this is a perfect no-stress option.
- Minimal vibe – with a simple backdrop, all the focus of studio images is on the personalities of the people in them! It’s all about fun, connection, and authentic expression. Plus, these images look great when displayed around the house because they don’t visually compete with your home decor.
- Lower price point – Itching for a Sunday Vibes experience, but not sure if you’re ready for the financial investment? Studio sessions are a great, affordable introduction to me and my work. Hopefully, you’ll fall in love, and we’ll be photo friends for life 🥰

How can I make a studio session more personal?
Bring personal items with you! Stuffed animals, lovies, special toys or books – feel free to bring these to the session so that your kiddos will feel more at home, and the images will be true to this age and stage of family life.
What should we wear?
There is a lot of flexibility for wardrobe with studio sessions! You can dress them up or down, go neutral or infuse color. I still recommend my basic advice of no extremely bright colors or clothing with logos, but otherwise, you can choose wardrobe that suits your family vibe the best.
Every Sunday Vibes client receives a detail client guide with tons of advice on wardrobe, including sample color palettes and lots of inspiration photos.

Can I do an extended family session?
Because the studio I use has limited space, I can only accommodate immediate families. However, I LOVE doing extended family sessions outdoors or in family homes. Check out my signature or multimedia offerings if you’re interested!
How do I know if a studio session is right for me?
If you love a minimal, clean look where all the focus is on affection and connection, studio sessions are a great option. I think they work best as an addition to at-home sessions, or even doing at-home and studio sessions on alternating years!
In general, studio sessions are perfect for perfect for annual/milestone kids portraits, motherhood sessions, maternity sessions, and family photos you’re hoping to use for wall displays.
