A look at Whim | Richmond Documentary Photography

January 22, 2020

Wintertime can be so, so hard for mamas with active little ones. How are we supposed to entertain the crazies when there is freezing temps and muddy, wet weather for weeks on end?

It’s maddening.

But! If you’re in the Richmond, VA area, there is W H I M! Friends, I seriously love this place. It’s not depressing and overly “kid-ish” the way so many kids play places are.

This is a space that’s actually inspiring to hang out in. It’s artful, educational, CLEAN, and just generally beautiful. It feels fresh and modern and minimalistic, which if you know me at all, you know it is my all-time favorite vibe.

Here’s how it works — you make an appointment for a play session and pay the $20 parent/child play pass fee (or pay $50 for a total of 4 sessions).

Then, you just show up and play!

I took Nash and Lux to Whim for a visit on Tuesday, and Nash L O V E D it. He didn’t want to leave.

Nash particularly loved the taco truck (he is still talking about it) and the ball pit, which also has a super cute little slide in it. Lux was mostly busy trying to practice her crawling skills, but she loved hanging out in the little Very Hungry Caterpillar nook for a while 🙂

I took some photos for us (and for the owners of Whim to use in branding and marketing!), and wanted to share them with you, in case you’re thinking of checking out the space for a play date or birthday party soon!
